In Sydney on the last week of July, we had the pleasure of joining fellow ecommerce players in what is clearly becoming an iconic event on the trade calendar: Online Retailer. Over the two days, we served over 600 cups of coffee, surveyed close to 200 attendees and gained over 5000 views of our exhibition booth on LinkedIn. However we’re most pleased about these statistics: we had the opportunity to meet with close to 3000 delegates at Online Retailer and make connections with 740 of Australia’s best and brightest retailers and ecosystem partners at the concluding gala event, the ORIAS. Here’s four of our favourite moments:
Caffeine and chats with Temando
We enjoyed a busy two days on the exhibition floor where our sales and marketing team chatted with hundreds of delegates such as those from Thank You, Total Tools and Petbarn who took the time to find out more about Temando and our innovations. Our highly popular barista worked tirelessly dispensing coffee from a La Marzocco espresso machine, poured into a Temando x Magento stamped cup. A few steps away, Magento had delicious custom shortbread to complement this experience.
Magento partner collaboration
We’re big on collaboration here at Temando, so for Online Retailer we worked with Magento and our fellow premier technology partner dotmailer to find out how our local ecommerce industry views disruption. Using a live survey, we asked delegates to indicate if a range of topics presented challenges or opportunities for them. While over 70% cited email marketing and ecommerce platform compatibility as an opportunity, 42% cited shipping and fulfillment as a challenge. We’ll release the full results of the survey in a tip sheet soon - look out for it. Want to know more about dotmailer and Magento? A visit by Channel Ten
Channel Ten Eyewitness News visited Online Retailer and interviewed Temando’s Co-founder and CEO Carl Hartmann for a story on the local online retailing industry in light of Amazon’s increasing interest in Australia. Featuring key insights from our recently published State of Shipping in Commerce report, reporter Letisha Marambio highlighted the gaps between consumer expectations and retailers’ capabilities around shipping. Celebrating the best at the ORIAS
We were pleased to host some of Australia’s brightest retailers such as Toys R Us, Super Retail Group and The Party People at the StarTrack Online Retail Industry Awards. Warm congratulations to Supercheap Auto for winning the Best Multichannel Retailer award, alongside all other category winners such as Mon Purse, Hunting for George, Kogan.com and more. Special thanks to AfterPay for extending the merry-making with a fun after party at Marquee where many of us danced late into the night.
